Colonel John M. Santiago Jr., United States Air Force, distinguished himself by exceptionally superior service while serving as Vice Director, Directorate for Aerospace Analysis of the North American Defense Command, United States Space Command and United States Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado from 9 Aug 1999 to 1 July 2003.  During this period, his decisive leadership and superior professional skill  resulted in the unprecedented success of the Commands' warfighting missions to the new United States Strategic Command, and stand up the command change with defense of our Nation's homeland.  In the immediate aftermath of the 11 September 2001 terrorists attacks,  Colonel Santiago's unparalleled leadership leaves a legacy of professionalism and excellence that will continue to have a positive impact on the Commands and the United States Air Force well into the future.  The distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Santiago culminate a distinguised career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Air Force, and the Department of Defense.
